Our IEEE 2030.5 Products and Services

The OpenEGrid environment and eco-system consists of two primary components:

OpenEGrid DER Gateways and Integration Services

  • Our Certified DER Gateways can provide IEEE 2030.5 CSIP compliance for your inverters. The integration and testing effort needed to provide IEEE 2030.5 CSIP compliance would be significantly reduced, if your Inverters are Sunspec compliant. After this we can integrate/test our IEEE2030.5 gateway with your inverter for a minimal fee and issue the ‘attestation’ required for listing that inverter as being IEEE2030.5 (Rule 21) CSIP compliant.
  • Our compliance services team will work with you to make your 1741-SA inverters Sunspec compliant and obtain Sunspec Certification for your inverters with appropriate MODBUS interfaces. After which, we integrate and test our IEEE2030.5 gateway with that inverter for a minimal fee and issue the ‘attestation’ required for listing that inverter as being IEEE2030.5 compliant.
  • Consultancy is an integral part of our engagement with our key partners. We work with your engineering teams for making your inverters’ MODBUS interface Sunspec compliant and also, provide integration and attestion of your Inverters for IEEE 203.5 CA Rule 21 compliance.
  • We offer our certified IEEE2030.5 software stack for embedding and running IEEE2030.5 NATIVELY on your inverters’ internal ICU/processor and then, to get your Inverters attested/certified.
  • Realizing the importance of reducing the hardware footprint and the associated overheads, which some of our partners have voiced, we now offer our certified IEEE2030.5 software stack for embedding and running IEEE2030.5 NATIVELY on your inverters’ internal ICU/processor and then get your Inverters attested/certified.

OpenEGrid DER Aggregation Services and Integration

  • An essential/key component in our product offerings is our IEEE2030.5 AGGREGATION SERVICE on our cloud platform whereby, your inverters can talk to our aggregator and participate in the emerging DER programs. We work with you for such integration. THIS IS THE QUICKEST, EASIEST, AND LEAST INTRUSIVE WAY FOR YOU TO ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE. We will conduct our own testing and integration of our Aggregator with your inverters and issue the letter of attestation once basic set of conditions are met.
  • Our IEEE2030.5 CERTIFIED aggregator SOFTWARE (with some exceptions) can be customized to CREATE your own aggregation service on your own platform.
  • Our IEEE 2030.5 Software Consultants and Experts can work with you to create your own aggregation service (with some exceptions) and integrate it with your own EXISTING monitoring platform.

Our DER Gateway is available in 3 models, customized for various deployments

OMS SU Lite

>View specs

residential indoor use

The SULite series of OMS that is capable of controlling and monitoring a single inverter, and it’s surrounding DERs. The SULite is best suited for less harsh and more forgiving environments such as indoor deployment of smaller systems, for example a residential Micro-Grid that has an inverter installed in a garage or other Micro-Grid equipment controlled from an equipment room.

OMS SU

commerical applications

The SU series of OMS is also meant for controlling and monitoring a single inverter, but it is designed for harsh, less forgiving environments such as a solar farm using a central inverter approach, where the inverter lives outdoor, on a concrete pad, exposed to the elements. While the OMS-SU is not itself outdoor rated, it is capable of withstanding larger temperature variations and harsher physical conditions such as dust and humidity.

OMS MU

>View specs

large outdoor systems

The MU series of OMS is designed for and capable of controlling and monitoring multiple inverters, and their surrounding DERs. The MU series of OMSes are housed in a self-contained NEMA 3R rated enclosure and are capable of being deployed outdoor or in environments that might need to connect with several inverters and surrounding DERs. A solar farm deploying dozens of string inverters, or a multi-storied building with lighting and thermostats deployed in several different zones are examples.

OpenEGrid IEEE 2030.5 Rule 21 Certifcations and Inverter Attestation Services

Our Gateways are fully certified by both UL and Sunspec Alliance. OpenEGrid works with Inverter and equipment manufacturers to attest Inverters for Rule 21 CSIP compliance as per CPUC E-5000 and E-5036 Resolution guidelines. Attestation for your inverter is issued by OpenEGrid after integration testing of the inverter. After this, the inverter is eligible for listing by the CEC.

OpenEGrid IEEE 2030.5 Rule 21 Compliance Development/Integration Services

If your Inverter is Sunspec compliant or has the Sunspec Modbus Interfaces available, we work with you to perform integration testing with our Gateway and provide any customization needed to make it IEEE 2030.5 Rule 21 CSIP conformant and to provide the required attestation. We offer a service to make your Inverter Sunspec compliant and obtain Sunspec Certification, if your Inverter is 1740-SA compliant and supports only proprietary Modbus or not fully Sunspec compliant. We offer our certified IEEE2030.5 software stack for embedding and running IEEE 2030.5 natively on your Inverters or your Gateway hardware. We also offer consultancy to your engineering team that may be working on making your Inverters’ MODBUS interface Sunspec compliant. Once your Inverter is Sunspec compliant, we can integrate our Gateway with your Inverter and issue the attestation required for listing that inverter as being IEEE2030.5 compliant.
